Brandy Vertrees, Student Counseling Intern
I am a student intern in my final semester at the University of Kentucky working toward a master’s in clinical social work.
I was born and raised in Louisville. I attended Spalding University as a first-generation college graduate where I earned my Bachelor of Fine Art in creative writing. Our stories are as much a part of us as our DNA, expanding and evolving over all of time and culminating into the extraordinary, complex, and beautiful beings that is us in this moment. How magnificent!
One of my passions in life is to listen to stories, to intuitively create space for our unique expressions, and to watch as human connection blooms and ultimately heals us from our isolation and pain. My hope as a clinician is that within these spaces, I can help others uncover the power of their own stories, to cultivate a sense of self compassion, gentle growth, and loving kindness for what is and what can be.
I believe we are all equally deserving of being heard, recognized, and validated.
A bit more about me…
I love to laugh. I love animals, especially dogs (the older, the better!). I have had the privilege of having 7 chihuahuas as soul mates over my life (and still counting!). I play piano. I have been with my partner Abby for over 12 years. I love the ocean, music, reading, learning, making art, and hiking. I am in complete awe of the universe, physics, and pretty much the entire natural world.
