Deborah Zimlich
I am a Licensed Professional Art Therapy Associate who loves using art and play therapy interventions as a safe and fun way to connect with adolescents and young adults. Tending towards a cognitive behavioral therapy approach, I use goal-oriented and solution-focused techniques. I have worked in various settings, such as School-based and Residential programs. I highly value working with clients from a holistic point of view, aiding to envision the entire image of a person. This includes working with parents and caregivers of adolescent clients as a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator to equip them with tools to support their children. As the family grows, so does the child.
After graduating from Bellarmine University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Art, I received my Masters in Education in Counseling and Personnel Services with a concentration in Art Therapy from the University of Louisville. I am currently pursuing licensure as a Professional Art Therapist under the clinical supervision of Angie Young, LPAT, ATR-BC.
As an Art Therapist, I strive to provide a warm environment where clients feel secure to explore social and emotional concerns. I have a passion for creativity and all forms of art whether it is journaling, ceramics, fiber arts, or painting. I am passionate about helping others tap into their creative potential throughout the therapeutic process.
