Jess Miller, LPATA
Obtaining support for your child’s challenges doesn’t have to come at the cost of gaining scheduling challenges for parents. That’s why I offer evening availability in the office at our Lyndon Campus, as well as provide School Facilitated Counseling Services for clients at the Walden School.
There are only so many minutes in your day, so let me help you remove a barrier to gaining support.
I worked in the public school system as an assistant educator for five years before pursuing my master’s degree in art therapy from the University of Louisville . I completed my clinical internship hours with JCPS, providing in-school services for elementary students in marginalized communities.
I have experience working therapeutically with school-aged children and teens with the following:
- ADHD/autism/other neurodiversity
- anxiety
- depression
- learning differences
- disruptive behavioral challenges
- emotional regulation
- social skills
- conflict resolution
- adjustment to life transitions
With my experiences working with children and working in a public school setting, I have recognized the importance of early intervention and expressive communication methods.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Berea College and a Master of Education and Personnel Services with a Concentration in Art Therapy from the University of Louisville. I am a Licensed Professional Art Therapist Associate who uses a humanistic and person-centered approach through the expressive forms of art to help clients work through challenges. I work with each client to express themselves and communicate in ways that are most comfortable for them.
As an Art Therapist, I work to create an open and accepting space for clients to express themselves and work with clients to build and reach their goals. I am under the clinical supervision of Chelcia Nemac, LPAT-S.
