Maria Maupin Anderson, MSSW, MSCFT, Marriage and Family Therapist Associate
I work with children ages 2 years old and older, adolescents, and adults at all stages of life. “Family” is not a “one size fits all” term, and I enjoy working with all family systems, regardless of age, gender, race, religion, marital status, sexuality, or familial relation. I work with couples, families, and individuals, always keeping in mind how we interact with and are impacted by our relations with others.
I strive to help clients identify strengths within themselves and within their systems, as well as barriers that may be keeping them from self-actualization.
As your therapist, it is my job to provide the tools, support, and collaboration to help you achieve your goals and manifest the most beautiful version of your life.
I have more than three decades of experience working with children of all ages in educational settings and many years of experience supporting those who have been impacted by or have family histories of addiction and/or mental illness. Many of us find ourselves vowing to raise our children without the pain we experienced in our own childhoods. Despite this deep commitment to ending destructive family cycles, we may find ourselves repeating old patterns with our own partners and children. We may have lost touch with our own inner child and creative center along the way. With the right healing, support, and new tools for our toolbox, we can become the individuals, partners, and parents that we want to be.
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Associate under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Schiller, LMFT, JD, DMin, and Lacey Ryan, LMFT, RPT-S. I received dual Masters degrees from Kent School of Social Work at the University of Louisville in Social Work and Couple and Family Therapy. In addition, I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Murray State University and am a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator. I am passionate about social justice and inclusivity of diverse populations. I continuously strive to improve my skills as an ally for those with minority status.
Life is full of challenges at all stages and none of us do it perfectly. Clients can rest assured that I will provide a non-judgmental therapeutic environment in which to blossom and grow. I look forward to helping you on this journey.
