Gabrielle Christensen, LCSW
Parents want their children to be happy, healthy and resilient, and I am here to partner with you in this goal. I aim to reduce the overwhelm in client’s lives by supporting them toward healthier ways of managing stressors and feelings. Beneath every behavior there is a feeling. I am passionate about working with children, adolescents and teenagers on the idea of how thoughts and feelings influence behaviors, and the control they can have over those behaviors. My goal is to connect clients with appropriate coping skills and tools to defeat negative thoughts, take control of their emotions, and improve their communication with others.
My therapeutic approach is collaborative, expressive, trauma-informed and family-focused. I enjoy helping children and families navigate developmental milestones and life transitions. I aim to provide a safe space that children and their families can be vulnerable and open in hopes to gain relief from symptoms and improve daily functioning.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Kentucky. I am originally from Southern Indiana where I completed my undergraduate degree at University of Southern Indiana. I then moved to Louisville for graduate school and attended Spalding University, where I graduated in 2014. I have worked in a variety of settings including school system, foster care and inpatient psychiatric hospital. I have 10 years of experience working with children who struggle with symptoms of anxiety, depression, oppositional defiance, ADHD, trauma and child behavioral problems. I am currently in the process of obtaining certifications in Autism Spectrum Disorder and EMDR.
I work at the Lyndon office and see children, adolescents and teens. In an attempt to make therapy more accessible for busy, working parents, I also provide School Facilitated Counseling at Crestwood Elementary and Oldham County Middle School.
