Amanda Windchy, LCSW

It’s hard to feel hopeful when you’re experiencing helplessness and disconnection. As a Therapist with several years of experience, I believe in two things:

1. Change is possible when you feel safe, and
2. To feel safe your experience must be understood and heard.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I hold a Masters of Science in Social Work from the Kent School of Social Work at the University of Louisville. I have clinical experience in working with children and teens in a partial hospitalization setting. I have a great deal of expertise working with trauma survivors and with family and intergenerational traumas. This clinical history has formed the lens of which I view the world and my work within it. Providing trauma-informed care is important to me as a therapist because I believe that having a safe, strong therapeutic relationship is key to success in reaching our goals in therapy.

Because I value reducing the overwhelm on parents’ lives, I offer School Facilitated Services at Goshen Elementary, Kenwood Station Elementary, Oldham County Middle School, Oldham County Preschool, and Oldham County High School. I meet with students during their school day, allowing them to receive counseling services without causing hardship for parents.

I have knowledge and experience in working with individuals who are experiencing:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • anger
  • family conflict
  • trauma

My goal is to help individuals explore their own strengths and utilize these in developing safe, appropriate, and adaptable coping skills to deal with day-to-day obstacles.

I will provide a safe, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space for individuals to share openly about uncomfortable and difficult topics. I believe in taking a collaborative approach and want to provide a space where individuals feel heard, validated, and supported.  It is my goal for others to see that change is possible, and that I have their best interest at heart. I love to see individuals discover their strengths and be able to accomplish goals they set forth for themselves, watching them flourish along the way.
