Cristal Encarnacion, Student Intern
¡Hola! I am a Marriage and Family Therapy intern here at Creative Family Counseling. Currently, I am pursuing my Master’s degree in both Marriage and Family Therapy as well as in Divinity at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
While I am originally from the Dominican Republic, I immigrated to the United States at a young age and grew up in Lawrence, Massachusetts speaking both English and Spanish. My educational journey led me to the College of Saint Benedict in Saint Joseph, Minnesota where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Theology. In 2019, I made the decision to move to Louisville with my partner and have loved living here ever since!
Growing up in a family-oriented culture helped me appreciate the transformative power of family relationships. That is why I hope to work with all different kinds of families, including those of with different cultural and religious backgrounds. As a queer Latina, I especially love working with LGBTQ+ families as well as individuals who are part of the Hispanic/Latinx community.
I am also passionate about working at the intersection of spirituality and mental health, believing that both can complement one another and offer meaningful and positive change in our lives. I strive to create a therapeutic space where clients can feel safe to be their most authentic selves by practicing an approach that is both reflective and collaborative. Let’s work together to discover the tools you need to help you on your unique path towards healing and growth. I look forward to seeing you!
