Parent Support
Parenting is both a joyous gift and a challenging responsibility. Although some may feel more equipped than others for parenthood, even the most “equipped” parents find themselves in moments with their child where they wonder: What is happening? How should I respond? Am I doing this right?
Parents come to Creative Family Counseling for support for many reasons: Maybe you’re in a tough season with your child and you’re out of ideas; nothing you’ve tried has worked longterm. Perhaps you’re struggling to stick with a consistent parenting approach or routine. Maybe you and your child’s other parent are having a hard time getting on the same page with raising your child. Entering adolescence? How do you learn how to manage the changes in your relationship with the emerging adult you still see as your little baby?! Sometimes parents come to see us for support when the new role of parenting brings up unresolved pains from their own childhoods. Other times, parents just don’t “feel right” about the parenting approaches they’ve been taught to use and need help finding an approach that makes them feel like a healthier, more loving parent.
Creative Family Counseling offers parents support in various formats. For some clients, this comes in the form of “Parent Meetings” within Family Therapy, where support is individualized and educational. Other families may benefit from increasing their toolkit by attending a Positive Discipline Parenting Workshop offered at Creative Family Counseling. When unresolved childhood issues are impacting parenting, Individual Therapy for the parent may be helpful. With each service, Therapists work with parents to find a healthy parenting style and approach that fits their family’s needs.
