Katie Melton, Student Counseling Intern

I am an intern at Creative Family Counseling pursuing a dual master’s degree in Social Work & Couples and Family Therapy (MSSW/MSCFT) from the University of Louisville. I previously completed undergraduate and graduate coursework in Biochemistry from Western Kentucky University.

I spent the first 10 years of my professional career as a Research and Development Chemist for a flavor house locally owned and operated in Louisville, Ky and built beverage concepts for customers all over the world. After the global Covid-19 Pandemic, I was in awe of the resiliency I witnessed by those impacted by tragedy, loss, and those of us whose worlds were turned upside down. It was during this time that I decided I wanted to have a more hands on approach to making a difference in people’s lives. I am often amazed at the healing work I’ve witnessed my clients fearlessly tackle and am honored to be a part of that experience.

I have a unique approach to psychotherapy that is often tailored to the individual client, couple, or family system needs. I most regularly conduct talk therapy, but have held therapy sessions while playing tennis, in parks, on walks, and have been a part of exposure therapy on-site situations for anxiety and panic disorders. My specialty and research interests lie particularly in couples and sex therapy, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) employed people, trauma focused, and anxiety/panic disorders. I am LGBTQIA+ and KINK allied.

Come discover a safe space where you can explore your emotions, overcome challenges, and find healing with compassionate support tailored to your unique journey.
